Our Impact
-
Renovations
The Friends of the Lansing Library have helped fund renovation initiatives at the Foster and South Lansing branches including contributions toward the Foster Labs initiative and Baby Toddler enrichment spaces.
-
Early Literacy
Funds donated by the Friends support early literacy play areas in the Lansing branches, helping children learn and love reading and the library from their earliest years.
-
Performance/Enrichment
Friends funding supports a significant portion of programming at the Lansing branches such as holiday llamas, Family History Month speakers, Halloween Magicians, and Summer reading performers. They also purchase materials that enrich performance program content such as craft supplies and story time flannels.
-
Accessibility
The downtown Lansing branch of the Capital Area District Library funded a virtual tour of the library using Able Eyes allowing visitors with disabilities to prepare for their visit in advance if they wish.
-
Prizes and Fun
Reading is fun and enriching on its own, but funds from the Friends help make the experience better and more cohesive by providing prizes for reading programs, library card sign up incentives, and more.
-
Appreciation
Now and then it’s nice to say thanks to the librarians who make it all happen. Think of your fondest library memories - it’s hard to do without seeing a librarian there, helping you find what you need, cheering you on, and making sure you felt safe and cared for. Friends appreciate library staff as well!
